Soft Glam Everyday Makeup Tutorial

Alright babes! Let’s just get straight into this Soft Glam Everyday Makeup Tutorial because listen: we love a look that’s glam enough to make ya feel cute but not so extra that it’s hard to pull off on the reg. I’m talking about that effortless yet totally put-together vibe that’s soft, glowy, and chic. Think: the Kardashian-Jenners, a beauty influencer IG selfie moment—seriously, anybody can rock this.
If you’ve ever thought, “I wanna look like a goddess, but I don’t have 1,000 years to do it”, this tutorial is SO for you. Grab your brushes, your fave playlist, and let’s beat that face!
Step 1: Prepping Your Skin—Your Canvas, Babe!
Before we even think about slathering on foundation or blush, we gotta make sure our skin is happy, loved, and serving smooth realness. Cool? So we’re starting with skin prep.
Hydration is key here. The makeup will sit better, you’ll look dewy, not cakey, and you’re gonna feel just ✨ fabulous ✨ all day. I typically start with a hydrating toner (I use the Thayers Witch Hazel Toner in Rose Petal—it smells so fresh), followed by a bomb airy moisturizer like Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream. If you’ve got oily skin, don’t skip the moisturizer. Trust me, it’ll stop your skin from producing more oil. Say it with me: We stan moisture!
Next, slap on some sunscreen (even if you’re inside, ‘cause those sneaky UV rays can catch you through windows). I’m obsessed with Supergoop! Glow Screen because it gives this glow from within, and spoiler alert, we are gonna be all about that glow in this look.
Skin Prep Cheat Sheet:
| Product | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Hydrating Toner | Refresh, wakes up skin |
| Moisturizer | Hydration is LIFE |
| Sunscreen | Protect and glow up! |
Step 2: Brows First (because they frame your face!)
I know, some peeps save brows for last, but for Soft Glam, I prefer to hit the brows first so I don’t smudge them while I’m doing the rest of the look.
We’re going for fluffy but defined. Think natural but polished. I start with a brow pencil that matches my brow hair color (I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Dark Brown). Light strokes, babes. You don’t wanna fill in your brows too heavily—rather mimic hair strokes to keep them soft, not block-y.
Then, grab some clear brow gel (or tinted if you like a bit more color), and swipe up to lift those brows. This gives a snatched, laminated brow effect WITHOUT making you look like you’re trying too hard. We’re keeping it lowkey chic, ya know?
The key with soft glam brows: precise, light-handed, and lifted!
Step 3: BASE Baby! Time for that Flawless Skin Glow
For soft glam, think flawless but not too heavy. Like, we want to uh… smooth out any drama the skin’s tryna give us but we’re not covering everything.
Foundation: I’m using NARS Sheer Glow (because duh, it’s lightweight but can be built up if needed). Use a beauty blender or your fingers, depending on what vibe works for you, and blend it out like your life depends on it. Start in the center of your face and work your way out, blending into your neck (so you don’t end up with that dreaded face/neck line).
Concealer: I stan the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, but use whatever works for you! Apply a little bit under the eyes, down the bridge of your nose, and maybe a dab on your chin. Less is more! Blend it all out with a damp sponge.
Don’t forget to set everything lightly with a bit of translucent powder in your T-zone if you’ve got oily skin like me, or just in the spots where you want to stay flawless all day. I use Laura Mercier’s Translucent Setting Powder—a cult favorite for a reason.
For the Perfect Base:
| Step | Product | Where to Apply |
|---|---|---|
| Foundation | NARS Sheer Glow | Everywhere (center-first blending outward) |
| Concealer | Tarte Shape Tape | Under eyes, nose bridge, chin |
| Translucent Powder | Laura Mercier Setting Powder | T-zone if you’re oily or all-over light layer |
Step 4: Contour & Blush—We Want Sculpt BUT Soft
Moving on to contour! We’re going for a very subtle contour that defines without giving Kim K circa 2014. I use a cream contour stick like the Fenty Beauty Match Stix (Amber’s my fave). Blend around the cheekbones, jawline, and the forehead.
Here’s a lil trick: don’t go too heavy-handed! Start light, and blend, blend, blend. You can always add, but babes, take it from me—you don’t want to have to tone down contour once it’s already there.
For blush, I recommend something soft and peachy to play into that gentle “I woke up like this” glow. My go-to is Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. It’s affordable and has the perfect amount of shimmer without making you look glittery—a vibe we don’t stan for soft glam.
Keep your contour soft and your blush glowing for that soft glam realness!
Step 5: Lids & Lashes! Keep It Soft and Sexy
Now it’s time to play with shadows! We want your eyes to pop but still feel wearable for, like, a chill day with friends, work, or even that cutie at the coffee shop who always remembers your order. Wink!
I love sticking to bronzy shades here. Something like Huda Beauty’s Nude Palette is PERFECTION. But if you’re after something simple and everyday, any warm-toned palette will do.
My Soft Glam Eye Look Steps:
- Start with a neutral matte shade in your crease—like a light taupe. Blend it out with a fluffy brush ‘cause ain’t nobody got time for harsh lines.
- Next, go in with a deeper brown and pop that into your outer V. It’s gonna give the tiniest kiss of definition without overwhelming the whole look.
- Take a shimmer shade and place it on your lid with your finger (Yes! Finger! It makes the shimmer POP) right on the center. A champagne-rose gold shimmer works EVERY time.
- Quick touch under the eyes: Go back with that deeper brown and lightly swipe it along your lower lash line. You’re going to look so damn ethereal. Trust!
Lashes time: Curl your lashes and hit ‘em with a good lengthening mascara, like Maybelline Lash Sensational. It’ll give you the lift and separation vibes.
If you’re into false lashes, cool—but keep them light, natural-looking babes. We’re not doing drag lashes today unless you’re feelin’ super extra.
Step 6: Highlight, Baby! Glow Like the Main Character
This is where things get REAL fun. The highlight is that extra lil’ sparkle that’ll have people thinking you just stepped out of a soft Instagram-filter.
A fan brush + Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector is truly a chef’s kiss. Apply it to all your high points: cheekbones, brow bone, tip of the nose, and a little on your Cupid’s bow.
Don’t forget to blend it well though! There’s a fine line between “ethereal glow” and “blinding shine.”
Step 7: Lips ✨ Soft, Glowy, Plump ✨
Let’s finish this look off with some juicy lips. You want something soft but hydrating, like a nude lip liner paired with a gloss or creamy lipstick.
Here’s my current lip product crush: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick. Whoever designed that lip color deserves an award because it looks 💯 on literally everyone.
You could stop with just that or add a clear gloss on top for that extra oomph. If you’re feelin’ the gloss route, Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow is like top-tier juicy glossy-ness.
Step 8: Set It All!
Last but DEF not least, we’ve gotta lock everything in. Grab your Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and give your face a LOVING spritz. Hear that? Your look is fully locked. Ready for anything. Even surprise selfies. Yup.
And That’s a Wrap!
You’re DONE, babe! You’re rockin’ that Soft Glam, looking glowy, fresh, and totally put-together in just 8 steps. Whether you’re meeting up with friends, doing a Zoom meeting, or just want to feel cute on a chill day, this look is gonna have you feelin’ like the main character 👑.
Soft glam is all about that balance: glowy, snatched, but still chill. You got this! Now go shine, boo!
Catch ya in the next tutorial! Keep slayin’ the day, glam goddess 💖
