Easter-Inspired Pastel Makeup Tutorial

Pastel dream makeup, but make it Easter! 🐣 Y’all, Easter is literally one of my favorite holidays for so many reasons: the eggs, the bunnies, and especially the pastel EVERYTHING. So, it’s only fitting that we carry that pastel vibe right onto our faces. If you’re obsessed with soft purples, baby blues, mint green, and blush pinks (like I am), then let’s jump right into this super easy, Easter-inspired pastel makeup look. This is going to give you all the spring goddess vibes, and I promise—it’s less about looking overly glam and more about that soft, “I woke up in a meadow” kind of whimsy. Trust me, you’re gonna love it! 😍
Step 1: Prepping Your Face!
Okay, first things first: prepping your skin. You know I can’t start without this! If you want that flawless pastel finish, you’ve gotta think of your face like a canvas. We don’t want any patchy spots, and getting your skin hydrated and smooth is the key to letting everything flow.
Start with your moisturizer—something light, not too greasy. We want to glow today, not shine like a disco ball. 😜
Pro Tip: If you have dry skin, throw on a hydrating primer too, like the E.l.f. Hydrating Face Primer. It’s affordable, and it’s got that jelly-texture that makes everything glide on soooo smoothly. If you’re more on the oily side, use a mattifying one instead (MILK Makeup’s Pore Eclipse is bomb for this).
Step 2: Get That Base Down! 💖
Now that we’re all moisturized, it’s foundation time! Go for something lightweight with buildable coverage because we’re keeping it soft and fresh—aka no caked-up foundation here.
Use a beauty sponge or brush (whichever is your BFF), and blend that in like your life depends on it. 🧽 I know blending is annoying, but it’ll give you that even, flawless base. I’d recommend something like the L’Oreal True Match Foundation; it’s not heavy, and it just melts into your skin.
Concealer Time!
We still want to keep it light with the concealer too. Dab that on your under-eye area, around your nose, or wherever you’d like to brighten. Don’t go ham with it, just enough to make your face pop. A quick blend here, and you’re set. Oh, and if you need a good concealer rec: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is IT. 👏 I don’t know how it works this well for the price, but it’s magic.✨
And let’s NOT forget to set! Just a light dusting of translucent powder (super obsessed with the Glossier Wowder) will keep everything in place all day without making your skin look cakey or dry.
Step 3: Time for the Brows! 🖌️
Ok, let’s lightly shape those brows, fam. Nothing crazy; we still want the focus to be on the pastel eyeshadow we’re about to slap on.
Take a brow pencil (something creamy like the NYX Micro Brow Pencil) and just follow your natural brow shape. Make them just a little darker, but don’t go too bold. Define the edges lightly, and then brush through with a spoolie so it looks effortless. Effortless is key.
Step 4: Pastel Eyeshadow Goodness! 🌈
Alright, let’s get to the fun part: PASTEL EYES! Think cotton candy meets springtime flower fields, yeah?
Start with an eye primer to make sure those pastel shades pop. The Urban Decay Primer Potion is iconic for this, but you can also use a drugstore one like Milani Eyeshadow Primer if you’re on a budget.
For blending, I love mixing soft colors. You don’t want anything too harsh, so get out a palette with pastel-y colors. A perfect choice is ColourPop’s “In a Trance” Palette. It’s literally pastel heaven.
Here’s the game plan for the eyes:
- Transition Shade: Start with a light lavender or soft blush pink on the crease. Use a fluffy blending brush (I swear by Morphe M441, it’s the Queen 👑). This is the base of your look and gives some depth.
- Lid Colors: Go in with a super soft baby blue. You’ll want to pack this across the entire lid. Don’t worry if it looks light or sheer at first. Build it up gently until it’s adorable. If your palette doesn’t have an intense color payoff, wet your brush slightly before picking up the pigment! Works like a charm.
- Inner Corners: Hit those inner corners with a pastel yellow or soft mint green to brighten things up. It makes your eyes look so awake and kinda like you just frolicked through a field of daisies.
-
Lower Lash Line: For a lil’ drama, blend some of that soft mint (or whatever light shade you want honestly—I went with pink) on your lower lash line. Keep it close to the lashes and don’t overdo it. This adds to the pastel fairytale without making you look chaotic.
Blend till your wrist hurts…then blend some more!
Step 5: Winged Liner (But Make It Soft) ✨
Okay, I know some people might skip eyeliner for a pastel look, but listen—you can do a soft wing! Just make it lighter than your usual black or brown cat eye. Use a white or pastel eyeliner (if you really wanna go for it) or a soft taupe color. A great option here is the NYX Epic Wear Liner Stick in White or Pastel Mint.
Draw a thin line super close to your lash line, then wing it out just a teeny bit. Trust me, this is gonna give your eye definition but still keep the focus on your pastel shadows. Plus, it almost tricks people into thinking your eyes are bigger. Optical illusions, baby! 👀
Step 6: Mascara and Lashes
Look, we all love a fluffy lash moment, but for this look? We want vibes. Keep your mascara minimal. Maybe just go for a lengthening one but don’t volumize too much. Why? Because we don’t want to steal the thunder from the pastels. Think of it as enhancing, NOT overpowering.
Suggested Mascara: Essence Lash Princess is everything, with length, no clumps, and gives just the right amount of pop. 🌸
And if you need a little more extra-ness (and I get it, no judgment), go with some light, fluttery lashes—like Ardell Demi Wispies. These lashes are totally a vibe and they don’t overshadow the pastels.
Step 7: Cheeks Blushin’ and Highlight Poppin’ 🌸✨
Let’s keep it super soft for the blush and highlight too! I’m obsessed with powder or cream blushes for this kind of look because they melt right into the skin.
For blush, use something in the peachy or soft pink family: Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff is 👩🍳💋.
Now, for highlighter, it’s gotta complement the pastel theme, right? A soft-powdered shimmer like Fenty Beauty Hu$tla Baby is amazing. Or if you’re more team liquid highlighter, hit your cheekbones with the glowy Luminosity by Rare Beauty. It kinda feels like you’re glowing straight from within. ✨
Pop your highlighter on those cheekbones, the tip of your nose, and inner eyes to bring the look together!
Step 8: Pastel Lips!!! 💄💕
This is where you can choose to be subtle or extra. I say go for a glossy pastel lip because that’s giving us major Easter Egg Realness.
Grab a sheer pink or lavender gloss. Maybelline’s Lifter Gloss in Pearl is 👏everything👏. It has the perfect amount of shimmer and gives off glazed donut energy (but make it chic). If you’re feeling bolder, you can go for a soft matte lip—like NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Tokyo.
Feel free to mix up glosses, lipsticks, or even colored balms. It’s Easter… who cares—have fun with it!
Step 9: Set and Slay!
We’re almost done—now for the final little magic touch: setting spray. To make sure all your hard work stays flawless for your brunch, egg hunt, day out, whatever, spritz yourself with some Morphe Continuous Setting Mist. This stuff feels like air but works like glue. 😂
ALSO: If you’re going to be out in the sun, grab some setting spray that’s got SPF, like the Coola Makeup Setting Spray with SPF 30. Better safe than burnt!
Final Thoughts (Because You’re KILLING it!)
And voilà🎨—your pastel look is complete! You’re seriously going to look like an IRL spring fairy. Whether you’re doing this for Easter Sunday selfies, brunch with the fam, or a picnic with your bestie… this vibe is everything.
Go show the world your soft, dreamy pastel realness, and don’t forget to take pics—because if it’s not on Insta, did it really happen?! ☺️
