Fresh Spring Look: Pastel Eyeshadow Tutorial

Heyyyy, besties! 🌸💖

Spring is FINALLY here! And honestly, who else is ready for some fresh, colorful, and fun makeup vibes? 🤔✨ I don’t know about you, but with spring, I am SO ready for cute pastel everything! And, since you’re here (hi, cutie!), it sounds like you might be too! So, let’s get into it and create a soft pastel eyeshadow look that screams “SPRING HAS ARRIVED—Catch my glow!” ☀️👑

Now, I could totally go on for days about how much I love pastels (them lilacs, soft pinks, baby blues—OMG) but instead, let’s jump straight into some fun makeup! This pastel eyeshadow look I’m showing you today is waaaay easier than it looks—I promise! We’re talkin’ super wearable for lazy picnics, sunny days at the beach (for all my Huntington Beach peeps—yes, I see you 🌊), or just posting cute selfies.

Let’s Get Glowing, Gorgeous!

Alrighty, before we even dip into that oh-so-dreamy pastel palette, we gotta have a good base. So, let’s make sure we’re glowing from the start, okay? Glowy skin is literally the foundation for all our looks. Here’s a simple tip:

Always, always moisturize your face before anything else. Your skin will thank you and you’ll get that bomb glow from within.

Throw on a lightweight moisturizer that won’t make you feel greasy but will keep the hydration locked in. Anddd don’t forget SPF (like, seriously—it’s the best thing to avoid wrinkles) ☀️. I love the way glowy skin paired with pastels just snaps. It’s giving fairy vibes for sure. ✨

Laying Down the Base

Ok babe, now that we’re moisturized and hydrated af, let’s get that primer on so our pastel goodness stays vibrant all day long. Go for a primer that’s got some grip—pastel shadows can sometimes be on the softer side pigment-wise and making sure your base is sticky will really help ‘em pop! 🎨

Next up: foundation. Keep it light and fresh. We want a “no-makeup but also, yes-makeup” vibe. Something that’s buildable is perfect. Honestly, spring is about letting your skin BREATHE, so ditch the heavy full-coverage stuff for this one. Throw on some concealer under your eyes and cover any blemishes, but leave everything else feeling freeee.

Okay… let’s skip through the basics because I know why you’re here. You’re here for the EYES, baby! 👀💛

Time to Get Pastel: Eyeshadow Look 💫

First things first: grab yourself a pastel palette. There are loads out there but I’m obsessed with those that have a pop of lavender, pale pinks, minty greens, and baby blues. If you don’t have a pastel-specific palette, don’t stress. Just use lighter, brighter shades from whatever palettes you own. It’s 2023, we improvise! 😜

Step 1: Lay Down That Transition Shade 🎨

Yes, even with pastels, we start with a transition shade first. This makes the blending process soooo much easier and makes everything look hella smooth.

  • For this look, I like to start with a soft, warm brown in the crease. It seems bananas to put brown in a pastel look, but TRUST—it grounds everything. Use a fluffy brush and windshield-wiper that shade into your crease.

Or, if you want to keep it super light and airy, you can use a pastel peach or even a very soft pink. Totally up to you, babe 🫶

Step 2: Pastel, Pastel, PASTEL 💜💗💙

Now for the fun stuff!!! Grab whatever pastel you’re feelin’. Today, I’m going for a cute cotton-candy blue. Go pastels or go home, y’all!

  • Use a flat eyeshadow brush and pack that pastel blue on your lids. Just keep packing until it is poppin’. Try not to sweep too much or you’ll lose the pigment—patting is your BFF here. We’re giving lid real estate to pastels ONLY. ✨

You could legit stop here, add mascara and run out the door, but NAH… we’re extra, remember? 😏

Step 3: Let’s Get Fancy! 🌟

Alright, we’re gonna make that pastel really stand out with a little glow. I like adding a shimmering pastel right into the center of the lid (think a holographic shimmer or just a shimmery soft white). This just gives the whole look more dimension and catches the light every time you blink! 💫✨

  • Pop that shimmer right in the center and blend it out with your finger (keeping it low-key but still cute). Just enough to go from “Oh cute shadows” to “WOAH, your lids are sparkling, are you a fairy?” 🧚🏽‍♀️

Step 4: Lower Lash Line Goodness

We don’t stop at the upper lids around here. Let’s give the lower lash line some love 💞. Grab that SAME pastel you used on your lid (in my case, the baby blue) and run it along the lower lash line.

  • I’d suggest using a smudger brush for this to keep it soft and diffused. We’re creating a cloud of color beneath those lower lashes—playful, not stressed.

A fun tip? Switch it up! Use a different pastel under the eyes for some whimsy. Lavender under your lash line with pink lids? Q-U-A-D-R-U-P-L-E the vibe. 💜💗

Final Touches for the Eyes 👁️

Of course, no look is complete without some liner and lashes (because duh!!!). But for pastels, we want to keep it soft and a little dreamy. I recommend using white or pastel eyeliner for the waterline to make your eyes look bigger and more boo-lish! 💕

And for lashes? Go for a wispy, natural lash situation, nothing too extra, but enough to make your eyes open up. You can even just curl your real lashes and coat them with a ton of mascara if falsies stress you out (we’ve all been there 😅).

Add a touch of white eyeliner in your inner corner to make your eyes pop even more, especially with pastel eyeshadow. It’s an instant eye opener!

Lush Lashes or Natural Lashes? 🤔

Optional but recommended 💅—lashes are reallyyyy whatever you’re into. If you’re feelin’ yourself with just mascara, leave it at that! But if you’re needing a little extra drama (we are dramatic queens sometimes), pop on a pair of fluffy lashes to tie the whole look together.

You can even cut a pair of false lashes in half and apply them to the outer corners for a cute baby-doll effect. BIG eyes energy all day 💥.

Time to GLOW ✨

Okayyy, let’s move back to the face now. With fresh pastel eyes, we need a glow that will have people stopping in their tracks. Grab your fav highlighter (the brighter, the better—let’s blind everyone with that glow) and apply it to the high points of your face: cheekbones, tip of your nose, cupid’s bow, brow bone, everywhere! Shine bright like a diamond, bestie! 💎

For blush, I’m all about the peach-perfect vibe. A soft peachy or baby pink blush will complement your pastel eyes and give your cheeks the CUTEST flush.

Springtime Vibes: Time to Choose the Lips! 💋

Pastels mean we’re going to stick to soft and flirty lips:

Option 1: Gloss Gal 💕

You can never go wrong with a juicy lip gloss. Ya girl here LOVES a super shiny, high-shine gloss, especially clear gloss or something with a subtle pink tint. It’s effortless, and let’s be real: it’s perfect for spring selfies outside in the sun. ☀️😉

Option 2: Soft & Sweet 🍧

If you’re going for something more subtle and sweet, try a rose-colored or baby-pink balm. Something low-maintenance but still adds a lil shine! Your lips, but, like, better.

Keep your lips soft and hydrated with tinted balms! Dry lips? Not cute for this look.

Final Thoughts… But Make Them PEACH 🍑

There you have it: a fun and fresh pastel eyeshadow look perfect for springtime! Whether you’re spending the day out with friends, flexin’ for the ‘gram, or just enjoying the sun, this look will keep you glowing ✨.
