Monochromatic Makeup Using Autumn Shades

Oh. My. Gosh. You guys!! Autumn is here! Yayyyy! 🎃🍂 I don’t know about you, but fall is honestly my favorite time of year for makeup. The colors are just SO freaking good, right? Deep, warm, cozy shades like pumpkin spice everything in makeup form. But today, we’re doing something that I personally LIVE for: a MONOCHROMATIC fall look using all those rich autumn colors. 👏

Now, if you’ve never heard of monochromatic makeup (umm where have you been?), it’s basically a vibe where you use the same shade or color family on your eyes, cheeks, and lips. And I am so here for it. Seriously, monochromatic looks are like the cool older sister of your everyday makeup. It’s effortlessly chic but also takes like 10 minutes to do. AND since we’re doing fall shades, think burnt oranges, rusty browns, and cranberry reds. These colors are about to be a whole mood. 🍁

Okay, so let’s get right into the details! Here’s the tea on how to get that flawless autumn monochrome masterpiece going.

What You’ll Need 🍂

Before we start, make sure you’ve got some fall-inspired makeup shades on deck. You don’t need anything super fancy either. Don’t you love when makeup looks don’t require spending a million dollars just to exist? 🙃 Here’s a quick shopping list of what you’ll want:

Category Suggested Shades/Colors
Eyeshadow Warm oranges, burnt siennas, rusty browns
Blush Terracotta, peachy, or deep blushes depending on your skin tone
Lipstick Deep brown, cranberry, burnt orange shades
Highlighter Gold or bronze works best for that warm fall glow

Feel free to use products you already have! Like, dig through your collection—you don’t need new makeup every time. ✨

Step 1: Start with that Flawless Base (Duh)

Okay, first things first, prepping your skin is ALWAYS the move. If you don’t already, pleaseee moisturize beforehand (my skin be out here looking thirsty otherwise), then slap on a primer that’ll help your makeup last aaaall day. We’ve got Thanksgiving dinners to dominate and cozy outdoor ‘fits to slay!

Once you’re primed, it’s foundation and concealer time. Personally, I’m team “lightweight foundation” because we don’t need to look cakey out here. And don’t forget to blend it out, fam! Use a beauty sponge or brush—whatever vibe you like best—as long as everything’s smooth like butter.

Aaaand don’t forget your concealer. Dark circles are not invited to this fall aesthetic, okay? We lookin’ FRESH. 🕶️

Step 2: Eyes That Scream “Cinnamon Spice”

We’re all about those earthy tones for fall! 🔥 Grab your palette and pick out the most autumn-y shades you can find. I’m talkin’ warm browns, burnt oranges, and even a little deep red if you’re feeling spicy. I’m using shades like “Pumpkin Spice” and “Amber Glow” from my fave palette right now—totally giving fall vibes.

Shadow Steps for Your Eyes:

  1. Transition Shade: Start with a super warm, light orangey-brown for your crease. This is just a base to give your eyes that yummy dimension. Fluffy blending brush required.
  2. Darken the Crease: Pick a rich, burnt sienna or cranberry shade and go to town in your crease. Blend like your life depends on it. Trust me, the more blended it is, the softer and more fire it’ll look. 🔥🔥
  3. Lid Shade: Pack a bronzy orange onto your lid. Double points if it’s got a bit of shimmer because, like, fall sunlight kinda vibes. This step literally makes you glow!

  4. Lower Lash Line: Don’t sleep on the lower lash line. A soft orange or brown buffed out under your eyes will help pull everything together.

Finish with mascara or false lashes if you’re extra like me (we’re here to stunt, okay?). And BAM—we’ve got depth, we’ve got warmth, we’ve got fall magic. 🍁✨

Blending is your bestie. Go in with super light strokes and gradually build color. The secret is patience. We love her. 💁‍♀️

Step 3: The Cheeks That GLOW 🧡

Next up: blush and highlight! I absolutely love a monochrome look because your blush needs to be in the same fam as your eyeshadow.

Grab a terracotta or deep peachy blush here. Apply it on the apples of your cheeks (smile real creepy to find them lol), and lightly blend it across your cheekbones. This gives you a natural ‘flush’ that’s totally fall-approved.

Pro Tip: Tap a bit of your blush across your nose too, just on the bridge. It makes you look all cute and naturally sun-kissed—seriously, it’s my favorite trick!

Finally, the highlighter. We need to GLOW, babe. Gold or bronze highlighters are bomb for fall. Just sweep it on the high points of your cheeks, a little down your nose, and don’t sleep on the inner corners of your eyes! It seriously wakes EVERYTHING up. ✨

Seriously, nothing hits harder than a golden glow mixed with autumn vibes. It’s like you’re walking sunset goals.

Step 4: Lips Poppin’ like Autumn 🍁

You wanna bring the whole look together with a good lippy! Reach for something in the autumn range—deep browny nudes, burnt oranges, or spicy cranberry shades. This is literally the cherry on top of your pumpkin spice latte… aka your FACE.

Option 1: Matte Lip Lovers – Go for something bold but warm-toned. A matte terracotta or brown lip will scream fall queen. This pairs so well with your eyes and cheeks it’s like a flawless match. 💋

Option 2: Gloss Galore – If you’re feeling glossy instead, try layering a burnished lip gloss over a nude or warm-toned lipstick. We still want to stick in the same shade family, but gloss brings some shine—because who doesn’t love a little drama?

If you want to be extra matchy-matchy, dab a tiny bit of the blush onto your lips to create the perfect sunkissed monochrome look. It’s honestly soooo cute and hella easy.

Step 5: Set It and FORGET It 🍂

Last but definitely not least? SET. THAT. LOOK.

We cannot have our carefully blended autumn beat sliding down our faces before we can post it on Instagram, okay? Grab your setting spray (the dewier the better, especially for fall) and give yourself a good spritz.

I swear, setting spray is like the glue that keeps everything looking flawless for hours, even if you’re out frolicking in piles of crunchy leaves or low-key crying at a Halloween movie marathon. 😂 Because yes, we can look cute and feel our feelings.

And that’s it! 💄 Your entire monochromatic fall look is ready to go. BOOM. Orange tones on your eyes, cheeks, lips, and loads of glow that make you the definition of autumn goals. I hope you guys try this super cozy makeup vibe, especially for all your Instagram pics, fall festivals, or those late-night pumpkin spice latte runs.

I’m seriously obsessed with how warm and earthy it turns out every. single. time. Like, monochrome lets you look NEXT LEVEL without trying too hard. Plus, with the rich fall colors, you’ll look effortlessly chic all season long. 👏 Go you!
