Okay first, can we please talk about how busted your neon is gonna look if your base isn’t on point? Neons love to catch on textured skin, oil, the whole thing. So first off, let’s get that face right!

You’ve heard me say this a million times… but girl, skin prep is EVERYTHING! Especially for neons because they can catch on areas you don’t want them to. So here’s my fav routine:

1. Step one: Moisturize!! Hydrated skin = flawless makeup. I usually go with something lightweight and non-greasy, like La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer. It gets the job done without making your face feel like a glazed donut (save that look for the lips, LOL!).
2. Primer queens, where you at?! Bright colors NEED a good base. Grab some Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer; it’s my all-time go-to for locking everything in and holding those bright neons where they belong.
3. Conceal and Seal, baby: Use a full coverage concealer if you need it under your eyes and on any breakouts. A nice even base will let your neon really pop later. I’m all about Tarte Shape Tape to get that flawless finish.

Trust me, if your moisturized and primed base isn’t on point, the neon DESERVES another face.

Neons Love Eyeshadow Primer. Don’t Skip. ✨

I know, I know. You’re thinking, “But my skin’s prepped already.” Sis, no. Not for the EYES. Neon pigments need a good base. Don’t just rely on your face primer for this one—grab an actual eyeshadow primer for your lids.

Something like P. Louise Base is PERFECT for that blank canvas moment. This stuff is like Velcro for your neon shadows. It’s also amaze at intensifying the brightness and helping everything blend out mess-free.

Neon eyeshadow without primer is just setting yourself up for regret when things start creasing under the summer heat.

And if you’re really out here trying to pop, use a white base shadow first to make your neons go even brighter. Trust me, your lid will be glowing like Billie Eilish’s hair from 2019. 😂

Mix and Match Neons Like a Pro 🎨

Now for the fun part—the COLORS! Girl, we’re doing neon shades tonight, and it’s about to get WILD out here. From electric blues to hot pinks and standout greens, neons are straight up the move for summer nights.

My Top Neon Combos for Summer:

Pro Tip: Try playing with 2 or 3 shades on your lid to get that dimensional neon pop. Blend like your life depends on it… no one wants harsh lines here! You want those colors to melt into each other. 💦 

For application, a little trust between you and your brushes goes a long way. Use fluffy brushes for your transitions and smaller ones for details. Morphe M433 and Sigma E40 are perfect for blending.

Go Graphic or Go Home {Euphoria Inspired} ✨

Let’s be real, are you even wearing neon makeup if there isn’t some kind of graphic element?

Neon liner is where we really turn the dial up. Think Euphoria vibes, but keep it playful! Here’s a hack for easy-to-nail graphic liner even if you totally suck at steady hands like me some days.

• Gel liner: If you want more precision, grab Suva Beauty Hydra Liners (THOSE PACK PIGMENT!). They’re water-activated and absolutely no joke.
• Neon liquid liners: Want that razor-sharp brightness? Go with NYX Vivid Brights. You can create the perfect cat-eye in, like, three seconds flat with these babies.

Outline your eyes with something bold, like neon orange or neon green. Don’t be afraid to extend it out way beyond your normal wings either. The bigger and crazier, the better!!

Okay so we did the eyes, the face… but what about the LIPS though???

Neon lips are 🔥🔥🔥 for summer. If you’ve got a bold eye going on, you can definitely tone it down with some neon gloss like Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in the shade “Tangerine.” It’s subtle but still peek-a-boo neon, perfect if you’re not ready for strong neon lips.

BUT if you’re like me and you wanna go full send on the neon front, try using Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink in those bright orange or pink shades. This stuff stays PUT. (No, like seriously—it’s hard to ever get off. Drink-proof, kiss-proof, meltproof.) It’s a summer-night essential.
